Sigma APO 150-500mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM review by Stockholmviews.com , page 6

Auto focus check of the Sigma 150-500mm OS, the traditional AA battery focus test :0)

Framing overview
Full frame overview

Using the center AF point on the Nikon D200 pointing at the middle
battery Sigma 150-500mm @ 500mm F8 the batteries are standing close to each other with the battery closest (Left in this image)
8cm (3 inches) away from the one standing in the background.

Auto focus seams to work as advertised :0)

I also find it fast and precise enough for my needs no hunting for
focus, noisy or other irritating flaws.
It feels as fast as my Nikon 18-200 VR and a bit quicker than the
outdated Sigma 80-400 OS.

I will perform some further checking for correct AF by using a test chart I found
on the internet complete PDF file with test chart and explaining text can be found
and downloaded [here]

Autofocus test for back/front focusing issues

This is the test frame at 100% frame size.

Strip to the left is a crop of the left part of the frame
it is reduced in size to fit for web display.

Camera and lens settings was:
300mm focal length @ F6 iso100 and 1/250 shutter speed

Auto Focus seems to be OK!
@ F6 this lens is a bit softer at the edges, this can clearly
be seen in this test-chart shoot.

A note from the test-chart developer:
It’s normal, particularly with longer focal lengths, to see the
focused area, or depth of field, shifted slightly rearward.
This is not a problem as long as the focus line is still within the
area that’s in focus.
